Going For A Run

Some of you might have noticed my updates on Facebook or Twitter about my workouts.  I have been working out for about a month now and am trying to get into running.  It's tough...I'll admit, I don't know how you all do it, run 5 miles at a time like nothing.  Before I began working out with my trainer, my philosophy on running could pretty much be summed up here:

LOL

Now, I've changed my mind a bit and actually strive to get to the point where I can run 2 miles without stopping.  I'd love any suggestions you have.  I'd also love to hear about your motivation and if you were ever in the spot I am...the beginning.

What's really helping me is the app on Apple called Nike+GPS...it's great!!!

You should definitely try it, if you don't have it on your phone already!  Have a great day friends and don't forget to check back tonight for Fashion Friday and the linkup!

I am getting started on a couch to 5K routine this week. Your post came at just the right time. I needed to remind myself that this can be done!!

Keep it up girl!! I started out pretty much like you! I was running two miles here or there on the treadmill! I kept at it, found some running friends to help out, lots a few lbs along the way and I am totally hooked!! I just ran my second marathon and I hope to run many more!! You are doing a great job and it takes time!! So keep it up! The time and distance comes with practice!!

i feel the same way about running! Its once of the hardest things for me to get motivated to do...not to mention it gave me a stress fracture!

I wouldn't worry about the time or distance, for now. Just get on the treadmill and run until you feel you need to stop. Over doing it before your body is ready can lead to injury which will set you back. Create an amazing playlist and just focus. Running isn't only about physical endurance, it's also about mental endurance. Find a mantra that works for you so when you start to doubt yourself, you can be reminded of why you're doing what you're doing. And of course...don't give up!! It gets easier as long as you stick with it! Good Luck!! - PL

You go girl! Everytime you lace up those shoes, it's a win. I love those kinds of apps. They really do help motivate AND keep you on track. I can't wait until I can run without stopping either. It's been a while, but I KNOW it will feel so.darn.good. Keep it up!

You get it girl! There is nothing like motivation than to register for a race! I've been running them for over 5 years now and it sort of forces you to push yourself! So excited to hear about getting into running! I'm running another race in < 2 weeks! Half marathon here we go again! xoxo A-

I have great things about couch to 5K, and it may be helpful to make sure your form is good now with your trainer before you develop your running habits. Good luck, I'm attempting to become more of a runner as well. ;)

Well done on your running... now the weather is getting better in the UK I'm going to kick start my running attempts from last year!

I used the couch to 5k app on my iphone and found it so helpful at the time and am determined to stick with it to actually get past week 2 this time!!!
