Hiking, Art, and Milkshakes By The Sea

Good morning friends!  I hope you all had a great 4th.  I had a great weekend hanging out in both Big Bear Lake, and Newport Beach.  I hit the mountains and the beach in one weekend.  I posted a few days ago about my newfound love of hiking, and this weekend was no exception.  I was able to hike Crystal Cove looking over the ocean in Newport Beach.  The weather was overcast, but the photos came out amazing.

Gorgeous right?  One thing I didn't know though was that Crystal Cove has been popular since the early 1900's, and movie stars even stayed in the historic bungalows to get away from it all.  Several movies were filmed here, including Beaches with Bette Midler.  Check out some information on the beach:

After hiking all afternoon, we headed to the Sawdust Festival, which is an art festival in Laguna Beach.  We finished out the night with a shake from Ruby's Shake Shack, which was amazing.  What a great day!  Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as well!

You found my secret beach spot when I head to SoCal! It's a great beach and the "hike" down with your gear is great. I'll be out your way soon for a weekend at the beach. :)

I love Crystal Cove! I used to go to explore the tide pools but it's been quite some time since I've been. Never hiked there though. You should come over to LA and we can hike :)
